To be eligible for a J-1 Internship, students must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution outside the U.S. or have graduated within the past 12 months in a relevant field such as hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, or business. For a J-1 Trainee Program, applicants must have a related degree and at least one year of full-time work experience outside the U.S., or at least five years of relevant work experience if no degree is held. English proficiency and a strong interest in cultural exchange are required.

The program primarily supports fields related to hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, and business management. Other related disciplines may be considered if they align with the hospitality industry and program requirements.

Student progress is monitored through regular check-ins, evaluations, and feedback from both participants and host employers. Program sponsors may conduct periodic site visits, and students are required to complete progress reports. Employers also provide structured training plans and performance reviews to ensure program goals are met.
